The mission of the Northern Plains Writing Project (NPWP) is to improve the teaching of writing and improve learning in local schools. Through its professional development model, the Writing Project recognizes the primary importance of teacher knowledge, expertise, and leadership.

Young Writers Institutes
The Northern Plains Writing Project’s Young Writers Institute gives elementary, middle, and secondary students an opportunity to educate their imaginations and write creatively.
Teachers who have participated in NPWP Institutes develop creative projects for students who attend the Young Writers workshops.
Institute Dates
Young Writer's: This year's theme is Super Heroes for both weeks.
June 3 - 6, 4th grade and up
June 10 - 13, 6 years and up.
